ICTs in linking farmers to markets: Innovative mobile applications and lessons learned from the past and the future

Farmers need mobile applications (mob apps) that can meet their changing information needs and suit their information-seeking behaviour. Providing observations, insights and lessons learned, this paper discusses mobile applications in agriculture. It focuses on different types of partnerships for developing mob apps, apps that are specifically intended to link farmers to markets, and those designed by and for developing countries. A section looks at attracting youth into agriculture, while a helpful appendix lists mobile applications for the sector.
