Non-chemical crop protection

This booklet gives an overview of the main non-chemical measures for protecting crops from pests. Most of the measures are preventative, and involve planning and farming practices that will reduce pest numbers and the damage they do. It covers insects, mites, micro-organisms and weeds, and includes a useful glossary and reading list.

The publication is very educative. I found out that not all insects are harmful to plants and chemical insecticide can wipe out such insects, and re-occurance of harm insects can be devastating. I will try the pull-push effect and use of compost to try to reduce the effect of stemborer and striga to see if my yield will increase.
